Chromia isn’t your run-of-the-mill L1. It’s built around relational data from the ground up. Instead of forcing every app to share the same global VM, each one gets its own dedicated “dapp chain” that handles storage and queries like a proper database to provide fast joins, rich indexes, and clean states. Developers use Rell, a SQL-inspired language that compiles to Postchain (Chromia’s backbone), with PBFT-style consensus tying it together. In plain English, it’s a blockchain that actually treats data as a first-class citizen, which is exactly what complex, state-heavy apps need to function without breaking.

The architecture keeps apps, providers, and users in separate lanes. Apps run on provider nodes and pay for resources, while users interact without friction.
