Wowsers, what a crazy few days for the market! If we can count on one thing in crypto it is volatility!!!! Altcoins have been bouncing hard over the last few days. Coins like Avalanche and Elrond are climbing to new highs. The market is voting with its feet and seeking out those hot layer one alternatives to Ethereum while the fees over there remain painful. I for one have really been enjoying using Avalanche and I currently am farming coins on Trader Joe and am playing around with Wonderland. Over on Elrond the Maiar exchange has launched, and the farming rewards are INSANE!!!!

In today’s issue I wanted to share with you an interview that I did with the team from Wonder Hero. Crypto gaming is going to be one of the biggest investment opportunities, so check out this interview to see what makes Wonder Hero one to pay attention to.

I also wanted to share this very timely report by one of our researchers, Matt, on Ethereum’s Arbitrum. Binance has just enabled direct withdrawals and deposits for Arbitrum which is HUGE! Wonder Hero AMA

For anyone not familiar, what is Wonder Hero?

WonderHero is a play-to-earn mobile game for the iOS/Android where players can earn digital assets (Heroes, Weapons and Equipment), and game tokens ($WND) that can be traded for income. Players will enter tactical turn-based battles against enemies in the Story mode, or go up against other players in the PVP mode. With beautiful anime art style, stunning game graphics with engaging turn-based battles for the mobile, WonderHero is empowering gamers to have the best of both worlds, play and earn at the same time.

What does WND token do?

There are several use cases for $WND.
1) It is required to purchase and upgrade NFT assets (eg. Heroes, Weapons and Equipment)
2) Players can stake $WND to get $WND rewards, such as our $WND-$BNB LP staking which is live on https://marketplace.wonderhero.io/#/earn right now.

3) Players can also stake valuable NFT assets to get weekly $WND rewards. This feature will be launched in late Nov 2021.

4) $WND is WonderHero’s governance token, meaning when the game is mature, DAO will be set up and players who stake $WND will have voting rights to determine the future of the project.

5) $WND is also required to be a sponsor or a guildmaster. More of this function and updates will be shared later on.

 

While $WND is designed to have more utility uses, there is another token in WonderHero, called $HON. It is our main play-to-earn token, designed to keep its prices at a consistent level. It is minted upon creation and burnt when used in-game, and we have designed an in-game system to monitor the market trend and adjust the HON accordingly. This will enable players to earn predictable and stable income, unlike other Play-To-Earn games whose token prices are highly volatile.
Both $WND and $HON will be tradable via DEXes.

What was the inspiration behind launching a JRPG versus another type of game?
After searching in the market for 1 month, we found this game to be highly suitable for Play To Earn mechanics, the game’s structure is organic and a good fit for Play To Earn. The game’s anime inspired art, storyline, high-end engaging graphics and addictive turn based RPG style, was something that was fitting for a recipe for a great P2E game that players can truly enjoy playing.

What is your plan to onboard users?
The plan to onboard users is split into 3 parts.
Part 1: We are working with key opinion leaders to bring awareness of this project and also working with various guilds to onboard players. Guilds are big communities of gamers who are looking to partake in the Play to Earn ecosystem to earn while playing games. We are in discussion with Polkastarter Gaming Guild (PGG) which has over 70K members on their discord channel and there are several other Guilds that we are talking to.
Part 2: We will be creating easy to digest game guide content for gamers, this in turn will allow content creators to create strategy analysis, game play review and more for the communities.
Part 3: We have prepared some budget to acquire some NFT assets during the WonderBox sale, these acquired NFT assets are reserved to be given access to gaming streamers and youtubers to play and share their content to their followers.

 

How do you use NFTs in the game?
In WonderHero, Heroes, Weapons and Equipment are all NFTs and they are integral to the gameplay. Players control the Heroes in battle and customize them with Weapons and Equipment for the optimal strategy.
There are over 100+ Hero variations (through Hero Skins) and over 400+ equipment, which gives Players an almost endless combination to craft their unique strategy and tactics.
NFTs can be earned by winning battles in the PvE mode (which is the story mode) or PvP mode. You can also level up these NFTs with $WND and/or $HON, and some upgrades may require other additional materials.

The first set of NFTs will be released via WonderBox sale, announcements will be made shortly. Eventually, NFTs can be bought or sold via WonderHero Marketplace.

When will the game be ready to play?
The team has completed the Alpha test successfully. The project is devoted to delivering a great seamless game on mobile. We are currently into our closed Beta and we are planning to do an Open Beta soon. This will be an invite-only open beta and limited to a small group of WonderHero community members. Originally, the game is slated to launch at the end of November 2021, however, we have decided to open up for open beta to receive feedback of improvements and at current projection, the game will be available on iOS & Android in Dec 2021.

Save Money By Using Arbitrum – By Matt

We all know that Ethereum gas fees are way too high. The protocol has become somewhat unusable for many investors, given that the fees incurred to buy/sell tokens and interact with a wide range of DeFi applications have become prohibitive. But there is now a viable alternative which is easy to use for anyone with a Metamask wallet.

What is Arbitrum?

Developed by Offchain Labs, Arbitrum launched to the public on August 31, 2021. Arbitrum is an Ethereum layer 2 scaling solution which uses Rollups to enable high-throughput, low-cost smart contracts while remaining trustlessly secure.

Like all Rollups, the Arbitrum Rollup chain is built on top of and secured by the Ethereum blockchain, and all transaction data is logged on Ethereum. From a user and developer perspective, interacting with Arbitrum feels exactly like interacting with Ethereum. Arbitrum supports the same RPC interface as Ethereum, supports all EVM languages, and natively supports all Ethereum tooling without any special adapters. The only way in which an Arbitrum Rollup chain does not resemble Ethereum is the cost with transactions on Arbitrum costing just a fraction of what they would if run natively on Ethereum.

If you do not have Arbitrum already installed on your Metamask you can click on the network drop-down box and manually add it as a Custom RPC by entering the following details.

How To Deposit ETH On Arbitrum And Get Started

Here is a tutorial which demonstrates how to use the Arbitrum Bridge from the Ethereum mainnet to Arbitrum L2 and back again.

It should be noted that you’ll be paying Ethereum mainnet fees when bridging assets across to Arbitrum. At the time of writing, the cost was around $45 and transfers take 10 minutes or less. Depending on where you live in the world you might want to pick a time of day when gas fees are typically lower. Here’s a link for readers who would like to do some of their own research on this.

Once your transfer has been confirmed and your assets are now on the Arbitrum L2 network you are now ready to explore a broad range of dapps (decentralised applications) within their ecosystem via their portal. Here you will find links to popular dapps such as Uniswap, Sushi, 1Inch, Aave, Curve, DYDX and many others. By way of example, here’s how you would access Uniswap on Arbitrum.

1. Visit Uniswap.org and launch app.
2. Select Arbitrum as your custom RPC in Metamask. This should be pre-installed if you have already bridged funds to the Arbitrum network.

3. Select the Arbitrum network from the drop-down box located on the top right-hand side of the Uniswap app page.

You’re now all set to begin trading on Uniswap using the Arbitrum network!

 

How Big Are the Savings?

Below is a comparison of the gas fees associated with an identical Uniswap transaction made at the same time on Arbitrum v Ethereum mainnet (exchanging 0.05 ETH for USDC).

On Arbitrum the estimated gas fee was .004427 ETH (equal to $21.02 at the time of writing) v Ethereum which had an estimated gas fee of $123.81. That’s 87% cheaper!

You’ll find that many popular ERC20 tokens are available to trade through the various dapps on the Arbitrum network but not everything is supported. Therefore, users should take the time to check out the ecosystem before migrating funds.

A Major Consideration

Although bridging funds from Ethereum Mainnet to Arbitrum only takes a few minutes, bridging funds back to mainnet takes a whopping 7 days in order to allow sufficient time for verifiers to detect any fraud on the Arbitrum network.

But there is a solution. Hop.Exchange provides near instant migration of assets from Arbitrum back to the Ethereum mainnet. They charge a fee for this service but if you need assets transferred quickly, this is a great option. At present Hop supports USDC, USDT, MATIC DAI and ETH transfers. You can also use Hop to transfer these assets between Arbitrum, Polygon, xDai and Optimism networks as well.

Another Choice Out There

Readers may also be interested in exploring the Optimism ecosystem which offers very similar benefits to Arbitrum and can be onboarded in much the same way. In fact Arbitrum was originally a fork of Optimism, the pioneer of the Optimistic rollup technology. At the time of writing Arbitrum has a considerable lead on its rival with $2.79 billion in TVL (Total Value Locked) while Optimism has a more modest $336 million. However, one can expect the gap to narrow as the Optimism network adds more and more dapps to its ecosystem. You can keep up to date with the latest TVL stats by visiting DeFi Llama.

 

In closing, apart from the obvious cost savings and greatly improved transaction speeds that investors can enjoy using Arbitrum, it’s worth noting that neither Arbitrum or Optimism currently operate with a native token. However, there are rumors aplenty that eventually they may go down this path so interacting with these protocols in the formative stages of their development could potentially set users up for an airdrop in the future. There is no guarantee that either protocol will ultimately launch a token but if they do, it’s possible that they may reward early users.
