TL;DR
Sei Network is a new Layer 1 blockchain with a growing NFT ecosystem, meaning Sei NFTs are relatively inexpensive and have room to expand. Access is simple with Compass Wallet and NFT marketplace Pallet, while some notable Sei NFT collections include WeBump, The Colony, Sei Apes Society, Akira, Seiyans, Seilors, and Seiguins.

Crypto loves shiny new things, and Sei Network is a shiny new blockchain with room to run in 2024. On top of that, it has a small but growing NFT ecosystem that’s full of potential gains, so let’s look at how to get started with Sei NFTs.

What Is Sei?

Launched in August 2023, Sei is a fast and scalable Layer 1 blockchain, which is–according to its creators–“specialized for the exchange of digital assets”, but that doesn’t mean it’s only about DeFi, as digital assets extends to many categories, including NFTs.

Sei Market Cap

Sei’s backers include Coinbase Ventures, Jump Crypto and Multicoin Capital, its market cap surged to almost $2 billion by the start of 2024, and it’s well positioned as an incoming new Layer 1 competitor.

Why Buy Sei NFTs?

When it comes to NFTs, the sooner you get into an ecosystem, the better. Whether it was Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, Ordinals on Bitcoin, or another network, the way it plays out doesn’t really change: if the ecosystem grows, prices go up, which is good for anyone who picked up the main projects early.

NFTs can have utility and become valued collectibles in their own right, but they also act as beta plays if you want to take a punt on an ecosystem, and the Sei ecosystem looks like it might continue to do well in a new bull run, and has NFTs available at relatively cheap entry points.

Wallet and Marketplaces

First of all, you’re going to need a Sei wallet, and the straightforward choice is Compass, a browser-based wallet that’s very easy to use, and can be thought of as the Sei equivalent of MetaMask. You’ll need some of the SEI token in your wallet, but you can get hold of that on major exchanges, and then transfer it across to your Compass wallet.

Pallet and Dagora

When it comes to NFT marketplaces on Sei, the top platform is Pallet. It’s an easy-to-use exchange which has its own launchpad in development, and there’s also a multichain marketplace called Dagora that supports Sei NFTs.

Tatami

Pallet was built in collaboration with Tatami, a Sei-based Web3 games publisher that is definitely worth keeping up to date with. Tatami has an airdrop planned, and at the moment, you can sign up for that on their website using a Sei wallet and your email address.

Top Sei NFT Collections

WeBump

If you’re searching for a collection linked to a utility project, then you need to take a look at WeBump. This project has created a protocol called Lighthouse, which provides tools for the creation and deployment of NFTs.

WeBump’s own NFTs are also currently the most expensive Sei NFT project, trading at a floor price over 1,600 SEI. Although to put that in context, that’s still below 0.5 ETH.

The Colony

One of the most hyped-up Sei NFT collections is The Colony, which is currently holding a floor price around 1,400 SEI. As for what you’re getting for that outlay, well, I hope you enjoy pixelated ants.

These actually look great if you’re into the whole 8-bit PFP vibe, there are 5,555 of them, and they’ve marched into the lead when it comes to community, collectability, and commitment to the Sei blockchain. Importantly, they’ve also made huge price gains in the process, having minted for free last September.

Sei Apes Society

Yes, another set of ape JPEGs, and yes, it’s now 2024, not 2021, but still, every ecosystem has apes and Sei Apes Society is minting 4,444 items for free, so… it is what it is. And it’s apes. But on Sei.

Akira

Along with apes, the other ever-present NFT theme is anime (Azuki being the prime example on Ethereum), and in the Sei world, Akira is a prominent anime-oriented project.

It’s a straightforward PFP collection, featuring anime-styled penguins (don’t forget that OG Ethereum project Pudgy Penguins is currently influential after it had a stellar 2023) across 4,400 items, and while there’s not much more to it at the moment, it’s a case of watching to see where it goes from here having built up an engaged community.

Seiyans

Considering that this is a big collection, with 9,000 items, Seiyans has established a comparatively high floor price above 300 SEI after having minted for free.

Again, we have pixelated PFPs, this time looking a little similar to Nakamigos on Ethereum (which were a surprise hit from deep in the 2023 bear market), but with an anime influence. It also appears from a recent X post that Seiyans is building an NFT swapping platform called SeiSwap, although this has yet to be confirmed in detail.

Seilors

Minting last year for 69 SEI, Seilors looks like a classic 10K PFP collection, with solid design work and good engagement. It may not be groundbreaking, but does it still have room to grow? The floor price is now at around 260 SEI and the potential for expansion is there, as it’s established itself early as a visible project in the Sei NFT space.

Seiguins

Another pun using Sei, except penguin doesn’t actually sound like Seiguin, so… don’t worry about that, the important thing is that an early collection of pixelated penguins is exactly the kind of thing that can potentially take off in NFT circles (again, we have the Pudgy Penguins influence at work), and Seiguins are currently trading from around 45 SEI after a free mint, meaning they’re inexpensive but have gained some traction.
