Ledger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: Access
The Ledger Nano X is available for worldwide shipping if you buy directly from Ledger but does come with some restraints for global users. There are some countries that Ledger is currently unable to ship to, due to international sanctions and local regulations. The countries excluded from shipping are Belarus, Cuba, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Egypt, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Kosovo, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Russian Federation, Sudan, and Syrian Arab Republic. For the most up-to-date list, please visit the Unavailable Countries page on the Ledger website. CoolWallet ships internationally but to find out if yours is on the list, you have to proceed through to the checklist first.
Whilst the Ledger Nano X and CoolWallet Pro are available through third-party retailers such as Amazon, this is not advised. It is always recommended to buy directly from the official Ledger website or the official CoolWallet website. This is to avoid buying a fake or tampered device. Thieves may have already noted down your 24-word seed phrase. Remember safety and security are your number one priority as a crypto owner. It’s not worth taking any unnecessary risks.
The Ledger Nano X is compatible with MacOS and Windows desktop devices as well as Android and iOS mobile devices. CoolWallet on the other hand is only available for mobile devices and does not work with desktop computers.

Ledger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: Ease of Use and Setup
The Ledger and CoolWallet devices are easy to set up and use with their respective software applications. But in terms of which is the most superior and most flexible to use, the clear winner is the Ledger Nano X.
The Nano X and Ledger’s software application, Ledger Live, is the dream combo. Together they open up endless possibilities to access the entire crypto ecosystem no matter what device you’re using. The CoolWallet counterpart, CoolWallet App doesn’t have as many integrations.
The CoolWallet app does allow you to connect to MetaMask and WalletConnect giving you access to the Ethereum ecosystem. But it’s the Ledger Nano X that can connect to over 50 third-party apps giving users so much more for the same price. Ledger Live allows users to hold Ethereum and Polygon-based NFTs, as well as stake multiple crypto assets directly from the app itself. The CoolWallet Pro app also allows staking on a small number of cryptocurrencies. Both devices can connect to third-party apps for additional staking options and NFT support.
To navigate through transactions on the Nano X you must use the two buttons on the side of the device and hold them both down at the same time to activate the “enter” function. The thing that is impressive about the CoolWallet Pro is that even with its credit card design, it still fits a screen and button for you to navigate through your crypto transactions. You can’t fault its design!

BUY LEDGER WALLET HERELedger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: Features
In terms of features, the Nano X and CoolWallet Pro are pretty similar. But it’s the integrations that matter, and the Nano X has way more of those.
Here are the main features available across both wallets:
- PIN-protected: Ledger and CoolWallet devices are protected by a pin chosen and set up by the user, which acts as a lock mechanism. In the unlikely event that your wallet is stolen or misplaced, the thief will need to get past your PIN first. This extra security measure is designed to make it harder for anyone but yourself to access your crypto.
- Crypto staking: Ledger and CoolWallet allow you to stake your crypto directly through their wallet apps to make some passive income. Keep in mind that the selection of coins to stake using the CoolWallet Pro is poor. To see a full list of cryptocurrencies you can stake and earn rewards, please visit the Staking page on the Ledger website and the Supported Coins page on the CoolWallet website.
- Easy Backup: As long as you have your recovery seed phrase, you will be able to recover your crypto if you lose your wallet. In the event your Ledger or CoolWallet wallet is stolen or misplaced, you can buy another one and use the same seed phrase during the set-up process to restore the old one.
- Bluetooth connectivity: The Nano X and the CoolWallet Pro can connect to their respective software apps wirelessly for extra convenience. The Bluetooth on the CoolWallet Pro has a 10-metre range.
- Built-in battery: The Nano X comes with a built-in 100 mAh battery and the CoolWallet Pro comes with a 15 mAh battery.
- NFT support: Ethereum and Polygon-based NFTs are supported directly by the Ledger Live app. To access multi-chains, you will need to connect to a third-party app in the Ledger Live app. The CoolWallet Pro provides users with in-app trading on OpenSea and Rarible, as well as storage via integrations with either WalletConnect or MetaMask.
Ledger Nano X only features
Here are the extra features you will find on the Nano X:
- Device compatibility: The Ledger Nano X is compatible with every device regardless of your personal taste in mobile and desktop gadgets, making it an easy and versatile wallet to work with. The Ledger Live app is available on Mac OS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.

- 2-year Warranty: Ledger wallets are covered with a 2-year warranty. Ledger advises users to reach out to its support team in the event their device is damaged or experiencing issues. If your Ledger wallet needs to be replaced, you will need to submit proof of receipt.
CoolWallet Pro only features
- Unique design: The CoolWallet Pro is the mother of all compact crypto wallets. It’s the size of a standard credit card making it the most inconspicuous crypto wallet on the market and perfect for on-the-go use.
- 1-year Warranty: CoolWallet wallets are covered with a 1-year warranty.
Ledger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: Supported Coins and Services
Despite the price tag being the same, the Ledger Nano X supports way more cryptocurrencies than the CoolWallet Pro. This is due to Ledger’s wide range of third-party app integrations. Over 5,500 cryptocurrencies are supported in total with your Ledger device, compared to just 240 with your CoolWallet Pro—which is disappointing. Ledger’s software application, Ledger Live, is hands down the winner here. Ledger Live provides direct support for Ethereum and Polygon NFTs, whereas CoolWallet relies on third-party app integration for NFT support. Please note Ledger Live can also connect to third-party apps to provide users with multi-chain NFT support.
For a full list of Ledger-supported coins, please visit the Supported Crypto Assets page on the Ledger website. For a full list of the CoolWallet-supported coins, please visit the CoolWallet Supported Coins Webpage.
Ledger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: Price
Both wallets are currently priced the same. The Ledger Nano X costs $149 (£136/€149) and the CoolWallet Pro also costs $149.

Best Crypto Wallet To Keep Your Assets Safe
BUY LEDGER WALLET HERELedger Nano X and CoolWallet Pro: Security
The Ledger Nano X and CoolWallet Pro are secured by PIN codes that users can easily create upon set up. Ledger allows for PIN codes between 4 and 8 digits long, however, CoolWallet recommends a 6-digit code. Users will need to use this PIN to unlock the wallet every time. The Ledger also gives users the option to create secondary “secret” wallets. Ledger owners must create a second PIN to access the secret wallet.
Both wallets offer top security, and at the heart of both wallets is the Secure Element (SE) chip. The CoolWallet Pro has increased security with its EAL 6+ military-grade chip which is one grade higher than the EAL 5+ chip on the Ledger Nano X.

Ledger uses closed-sourced software. The hardware is designed to avoid physical attacks, and whilst the code is open source, only code approved by Ledger itself can be loaded onto the device.
Finally, something to note about Ledger security is that the company suffered a marketing data leak in mid-2020. Customer data such as email and phone numbers were exposed, leading to phishing attacks. Whilst this is not specifically related to either the Nano X, it’s something to keep in mind, especially since Ledger uses closed-source technology.

Ledger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: Final Thoughts
For most crypto investors, the Ledger Nano X will be the fan favorite. Ledger is a more familiar name in the crypto industry and is more widely adopted. The buying decision is more likely to come down to aesthetics, compatibility, and integrations, rather than security.
The CoolWallet Pro really is a unique device with an incredible design but still lacks the wide range of integrations that the Ledger Nano X has. It’s these integrations that allow crypto investors to take full advantage of the entire crypto ecosystem and use it for more than just their HODL portfolio. Not to mention, Ledger supports way more cryptocurrencies for the same price.

BUY LEDGER WALLET HERELedger Nano X vs CoolWallet Pro: FAQs
What are Ledger and CoolWallet wallets?
Ledger and CoolWallet are a type of crypto hardware device that is never connected to the internet, meaning your private keys are kept offline in “cold” storage. This stops anyone from remotely accessing your crypto. These compact devices allow you to buy, sell, send, receive, and swap cryptocurrencies. The Ledger Nano X resembles a USB drive which opens with a switchblade swivel and features a small LED screen. Whereas the CoolWallet Pro is the size and shape of a standard credit card, so it’s ultra-thin and inconspicuous.
What are the differences between the Nano X and the CoolWallet Pro?
The Ledger Nano X and the CoolWallet Pro are solid choices when it comes to crypto security and share many of the same features. They also retail for the same price of $149.
The CoolWallet Pro excels when it comes to security with the upgraded EAL 6+ chip and its ultra-thin, lightweight design—it’s like no other wallet. But the Ledger Nano X overall is the superior wallet to the CoolWallet Pro, despite being the same price. The main differences are that the Ledger Nano X is compatible with all desktop and mobile devices, whereas the CoolWallet Pro is a mobile-only wallet. The Ledger infrastructure also provides crypto investors with more access to DeFi, dApps, and NFTs with its 50+ third-party apps to choose from. CoolWallet Pro only integrates with MetaMask and ConnectWallet.
Who should use Ledger Nano X vs. CoolWallet Pro?
It is recommended that every crypto investor uses a hardware wallet to safely secure and manage their crypto coins and tokens. The Ledger Nano X and the CoolWallet Pro are solid choices when it comes to crypto security and even though the CoolWallet Pro is built to a higher grade, this isn’t likely to be a deciding factor. Neither is the price, as they’re the same. Beginners will likely prefer to stick with the Ledger as it’s a household name and widely recognised within the crypto industry.
I would say even advanced crypto investors will prefer to use the Ledger Nano X due to the many integrations it offers users. The 50+ third-party apps allow investors to experience the world of DeFi, dApps, and NFTs. The CoolWallet Pro just can’t compete with this. Whilst the CoolWallet Pro is not just a pretty face, it will appeal to investors who are mostly on the go using mobile devices and need the most inconspicuous wallet on the market.
Do the Ledger Nano X and CoolWallet Pro support NFTs?
Yes, both the Ledger and CoolWallet devices support NFTs but in slightly different ways. The Ledger Nano X supports Polygon and Ethereum NFTs directly through the Ledger Live app. To gain access to NFTs from other blockchains, you will need to download and install a third-party app to do so. The CoolWallet Pro supports NFT integration through third-party integrations with Rarible and OpenSea.
Does the Ledger Nano X and CoolWallet Pro come with a touchscreen?
No, neither the Ledger Nano X or CoolWallet Pro have a color touchscreen display. If you’d like a touchscreen wallet you will have to invest in the Trezor Model T or the upcoming Ledger Stax wallet which will be launched in March 2023. Both are more expensive.
