Lark’s Portfolio

This Week’s Moves

I added a little BTC at $21,100.

I claimed my ILV staking rewards.

I sold a small amount of GLMR that I received from my venture investment, about ⅓, and I staked the rest. I remain optimistic about the price potential for GLMR in the next cycle.

Also sold some EUL tokens that I got from my venture investment.

I also added Axelar to my portfolio. To be clear this is not a new purchase, I have been receiving coins from my venture investment. I am holding them as I think that their coin could do well in the next cycle.

I have been considering moving my CRV tokens over to Yearn Finance which is currently offering about twice the yield of Convex Finance. You might think that is a straightforward proposition. But, there are always tax implications to consider. And, yields can change real fast, which would then have me moving back to Convex again…

I have also put in a new buy order for more CRV at $0.77, which is where a pull back price could potentially come in at. Not a crazy amount or anything either, just a little nibble to add to the position. I am also keeping an eye on AAVE and SNX. But have not put in any buy orders yet.

Also, I have been considering entering some NFT positions recently. BUT, the problem I am currently faced with is that if I buy an NFT it will be a sale of my ETH, which will incur a pretty decent tax bill at the moment. But if the NFT thesis proves correct then I will make much more ETH… decisions, decisions…

Collections I have been thinking about are World Of Women, Cyber Brokers, and Doodles. Part of me still wants to get a Crypto Punk, but it wouldn’t be for flipping.

Anyway, I haven’t pulled the trigger on any of this NFT stuff yet, but this has been on my mind.

Reflecting On Contrarianism

One of the hardest things in markets that we will all struggle with, and yes I am far from immune, is groupthink.

The truth is that most of us end up being trend followers. What is the hot new thing right now? Quick, buy it!!! Or on a grander scale, markets are shit, sell everything or markets are so hot, buy everything!!!

Yet, the best investors are the ones who do the opposite. They buy when everyone else wants to sell, and they sell when everyone else wants to buy.

This comes back to old man Buffett’s saying “be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful”. It sounds so easy, right? And yet, most of us get it wrong most of the time.

The basis of this conversation is that at the extremes of markets or individual assets that the majority of investors are wrong. That last guy who clicked buy when Bitcoin hit $69,050 on Binance was late to the party. The person selling him that Bitcoin was the…
