TL;DR
Super Champs is a Web3 gaming ecosystem being developed by Joyride Games. It has two titles currently in production, called Racket Rampage and Bullet League, along with an NFT collection, Rampage Racket Genesis, and an incoming token called CHAMP. Participants can now earn Quest Points on the Super Champs platform, in order to compete later for an allocation of CHAMP, and Super Champs is also producing short animations and physical products.

Based mainly around gaming, Super Champs’ ambitions also expand into other sectors, and it’s been developing solidly thanks to a highly experienced team leading the way. To get an idea of what Super Champs has planned and where it’s heading, let’s run through the details of this high-potential project.

What Is Super Champs Building?

Take a look at Super Champs and you’ll find an in-development Web3 ecosystem that incorporates mobile games, animation, physical products, NFTs, and a token called CHAMP. This is all still being built out so it’s not 100% clear yet how the various components will be balanced together, but the gaming aspect appears to be central, and the presence of a token that users can earn is important if it helps to drive interest while also having utility within the Super Champs platform.

The Super Champs Team

If a project doesn’t have the right personnel on board it might struggle, but Super Champs looks well placed in this regard, with some strong creative connections.

It was established by the Super Champs Foundation, and this group is part of Web3 gaming studio Joyride Games, which is leading the creation and development of Super Champs’ gaming titles.

Joyride itself is very well credentialed, with an experienced team whose collective CV includes roles at the likes of Electronic Arts, Zynga and Disney. This is a professional setup that specializes in building franchises around mobile games (which is exactly what’s planned for Super Champs), can boast over 300 million users across the titles it’s worked on, and is backed by investors including Solana, Coinbase and Animoca Brands.

CHAMP Token and Ways to Earn

The main narratives of the current crypto cycle so far have been BTC ETFs, memecoins, and–relevant here–methods of earning points and tokens. And if we focus on NFTs, there’s interest around collections linked to the possibility of token releases, as for example with Azuki, which is developing the Layer-3 AnimeChain, and around Igloo–parent company of Pudgy Penguins–which recently acquired a platform called Frame with the intention of building a Layer-2 blockchain. Also, in the Bitcoin ecosystem, Ordinals linked to Runes mints have grabbed attention (remembering that Ordinals and Runes are the NFTs and memecoins of Bitcoin).

That in mind, Super Champs’ incorporation of its own ecosystem token–CHAMP–along with ways for early users to earn allocations, look like a big positive. CHAMP is to be deployed on Base, and according to the Super Champs whitepaper it has three main uses:

  • Purchases of in-game assets, physical goods, and ecosystem services.
  • Community programs, including reward-earning quests and social metagames.
  • Governance, meaning holders can influence product development.

There will be a total of 1,000,000,000 tokens, with 30% of that supply going to the community, and with 16% of total supply to be initially unlocked on launch, and the project has advised that further distribution may actually take place more slowly than as currently mapped out.

Season 1 points-earning quests are currently already open and active, allowing participants to earn Quest Points, which will then be used at the end of the season to compete for CHAMP tokens, although it’s not yet clear how exactly that competition for tokens will be organized. According to Super Champs’ roadmap the CHAMP token TGE (token generation event) will take place in Q3 this year.

Superchamps Games

There are currently two live Super Champs mobile games, both of which are available to download now in public beta versions.

Racket Rampage

The first Super Champs game was Racket Rampage, and it’s an action tennis game incorporating cute superhero characters and RPG elements, which is an interesting combination. It can be played solo or in real-time PvP mode, has competitive leaderboards to climb, and it uses NFTs enabling players to take ownership of in-game characters.

Bullet League

A platform shooter centered on an arena-based combat sport (but all still done in full-on cute mode), Bullet League will feature seasonal quests, rewards, and ownable in-game assets, and it’s actually a relaunch, as Super Champs acquired the game last year from original creator Funday, with whom Joyride is now partnered to further develop the game.

Racket Rampage Genesis NFTs

If you’re looking to pick up some related NFTs, Super Champs released the Racket Rampage Genesis collection back in 2022. There are 3,333 items in the collection, each of which shows a unique avatar and provides multiple holder benefits, including tickets for seasonal events, airdrops of in-game collectibles, and–most importantly if you’re interested in the CHAMP token release–allocations of Quest Points, with incentives for holding Genesis NFTs long-term.

Racket Rampage Genesis NFTs have a current floor price of around 0.17 ETH, with only 3% of supply listed for sale.

Super Champs Animation and Physical Products

Besides gaming, tokens and NFTs, Super Champs is also exploring animation, comics and physical merchandise. On YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, you can find high quality animated shorts that revolve around a character called Kigu, and there’s the online Super Champs Store, which is selling mainly apparel.

Overall then, it looks like Super Champs is building out a new brand that has Web3 mobile gaming–incorporating tokens and NFTs–at its core, but which has the capacity to expand across multiple other sectors.
