The Biggest Polkadot Ecosystem Projects
We’re officially in 2023, and it feels like Polkadot has been hibernating forever. With the completion of almost 40 parachain auctions on Polkadot and 60 on Kusama, there’s no shortage of Polkadot Ecosystem Projects to discuss. Those keeping a close eye on Polkadot know we’re approaching the halfway point for Polkadot’s 100 parachain maximum. As more DOT tokens are locked up, more rewards are generated, adding fuel to these amazing products while they prepare for the future of Polkadot.
Now is also the best time for future Polkadot projects to throw their names in the hat. Slots that cost Millions of Dollars earlier this year are getting significant discounts in 2023. Polkadot crowdloans not only help projects secure their seat at the Polkadot table. They also give regular participants some incredible staking rewards. This week we’ll look at who’s getting the majority of rewards and what they bring to the Polkadot Ecosystem.
Here’s a list of blue-chip protocols preparing to become the backbone of the Polkadot blockchain. So if you’re looking to invest in Polkadot altcoins, this is the best place to start.
1. Moonbeam (GLMR) – 35,759,931 DOT Staked
After winning the 2nd parachain slot, Moonbeam has remained at the top of the Polkadot ecosystem. We’ve spoken with Moonbeam several times since the launch of their easy-to-use developer tool that allows full Ethereum compatibility on Polkadot. The last time we caught up with the project, they had more than 50 applications utilizing their Moonbeam technology. Now they have over 250 applications operating on Moonbeam. Considering they just launched on Polkadot in January 2022. There’s a lot of work going on at Moonbeam. This decentralized smart contract platform enables the interoperability developers have been looking for. Moonbeam also taps into Ethereum, Cosmos, Wormhole, Hyperlane, LayerZero, and Axelar technologies to give developers multiple options for building value on Polkadot.
Moonbeam has been focusing all of its efforts on creating cross-chain connected contracts for Polkadot. By creating easy-to-use tools on the backend, Moonbeam hopes this will equal a frictionless user experience on the frontend. Moonbeam recently completed its Illuminate Hackathon event last month. Of the 92 projects submitted during the event, two dozen winners shared $150,000 in cash prizes for their creations. The event focused on the new XCM technology developed by Polkadot. A technology that debuted on Moonbeam relayer Moonriver with the XC-20 standardized token. This new technology allows messages to be relayed more easily between all parachains and something that was previously extremely limited in functionality. Moonbeam is one of the most important ecosystem projects on Polkadot.
2. Acala (ACA) – 32,515,980 DOT Staked
Acala won the 1st parachain auction slot on Polkadot. Shortly afterward, we found some interesting connections between Acala and the previously defunct Laminar Project. The focus of Acala is to…
