TL;DR
This week the gaming community sprang into action by pushing the free-to-play Big Time crypto game into the spotlight for the first time. With so many crypto games announced last year that are still not available to play and the ones that are stuck in beta mode, everyone wants to know if Big Time is deserving of this newfound interest or yet another in the long line of short-lived crypto games. With the BIGTIME Token hype kicking off, it’s time to get a better understanding of the project and find out what it has to offer crypto enthusiasts and the gaming world.

On the outside, Big Time looks like your generic run-of-the-mill mobile game. The graphics are moderate and the gameplay is pretty repetitive but there are a few intricacies and mechanics that shine through the usual gameplay loop to give Big Time a slight advantage over other projects. Whether this is something that will influence more players to join and climb the ranks, is yet to be seen. But, what can already be seen is some work going into developing the framework for Big Time.

Whether or not Big Time hits the mark for you will depend on the type of gaming experience you’re looking for. Enemies are loot piñatas, and there are different classes to choose from, varying rarity levels for items, mystery boxes, leaderboards, consumables, and most of the other little things that have the makings for a good game, that is if you can get over its “Big Time” catch, that pesky Know Your Customer (KYC) policy. If that’s not your thing, check out the Top Gaming NFTs you’ll want to keep an eye on instead.

What is the Big Time Crypto Game?

While Big Time may have only released their BIGTIME token recently, the founders of Big Time Studios have been developing the project on some level since early 2021. Raising a cool $10 Million back then with the help of Alameda Research, Circle, and OKX Ventures, Big Time was sold to the public as a cooperative RPG designed around NFTs.

The game is set in the distant future where black holes are swallowing up the universe bit by bit. Your job is to find out what’s causing this catastrophic event and put a stop to it. Disruptions in time and reality are an ongoing challenge the player will face if they want to claim victory over the enemy. Big Time’s art style is designed to create a colorful and whimsical version of the world. Playing off the constant shifts in timelines, the Big Time Universe storyline was created around exploring famous figures throughout history.

While Big Time may eventually become free-to-play. The current and only version requires an Early Access Pass of some sort before stepping foot in the Big Time Universe. These passes are set at varying levels of entry and contain the bonus of increasing a player’s drop rate. These are sold almost exclusively by Big Time Studios through its official marketplace. The cheapest entry into Big Time can be obtained by purchasing a Space NFT for around $60. But, the lowest benefitting access pass, Jade, will set you back a cool $300. The highest-priced Gold passes cost a whopping $4,500. Since NFTs are designed around drop rates, you’re likely to never see one in the game without at least the Jade Pass. This has been an ongoing issue with Big Time and its community.
