As someone who’s participated in hundreds of airdrops. They are by far one of the best ways to earn free cryptocurrency for minimal effort. Airdrops come in many different forms and can earn you anywhere from one dollar to thousands of dollars, and in extremely rare cases you can earn up to a hundred thousand dollars. Most only require you to sign up, some have social tasks associated or a snapshot from staked tokens in a network, and others require you to use their product in some capacity.

All of these are common airdrops we’ll be discussing, however, we’ll also talk about incentivized testnets. These generally require you to have some basic knowledge about how to set up a wallet and interact with decentralized applications “dApps”. Incentivized testnets have some of the lowest risk and highest rewards for no initial investment. They also enable participants to play around in a worry-free sandbox while learning about how to interact with these new technologies.

How to Find Crypto Airdrops

There are a number of ways you can find current and upcoming airdrops to participate in. HINT: You’ll want to bookmark these links for reference on your future airdrop endeavors.

Twitter

One of the most common places many people search for airdrops is on Twitter, but they also have a little more fluff you’ll need to work through in your search. Being one of the most common places to find airdrops, it also has a lot of scams and marketing pretending to be an airdrop. For these reasons, it’s important to never participate in any airdrop that asks for personally identifiable information. Anything that requires your full name, address, and/or phone number is not worth the risk.

Medium

Similar to Twitter, Medium is also another great place to find upcoming and current airdrops and these tend to be a bit more reliable. One of the reasons for this is that Medium tends to be the first place a new project posts its current or future airdrop. Medium is one of the best ways to earn free crypto since the invention of airdrops.

Websites

Some websites provide a list of available airdrops after doing the majority of research for you. You’ll still need to do some diligence to verify the legitimacy of each airdrop before participating, as this simply presents you with what others consider to be a valid drop. It also tends to be increasingly difficult to receive rewards from some sites. This is especially true when only 1,000 people will receive rewards and due to popularity, there are 250,000 entries. Some of the most popular of these websites available are CoinMarketCap Airdrops, CoinMarketCal, DefiLlama, and Airdrops.io

Incentivized Testnets

Incentivized testnets offer a unique way to earn and learn. While most airdrops will only require you to like a post, retweet, join a group, etc, you don’t actually learn much about the project as a requirement. Testnets operate on separate networks not linked with the main network, allowing you to live-action role-play with various products. Information learned from playing with these products always carries over into mainnet, when the product is fully operational.

For participating in these incentivized testnets you’ll be rewarded with whatever coin or token is released to represent that product. For many of them, it’s as easy as using your “Metamask” wallet like you normally would, only not on the main Ethereum blockchain. All Testnets have faucets that will provide you with free testing tokens so you won’t need anything to start. You can find these sometimes on Medium and Twitter. The best place to consistently find active incentivized testnets is over on DropsEarn.

Conclusion

It’s important to understand that when it comes to airdrops there are zero guarantees you’ll get anything for your time and participation. Actually receiving rewards is at the sole discretion of the project providing the airdrop. Check the specifics of each drop and markdown on your calendar when you expect to receive your rewards. It’s good practice to use a different public address than the one you use regularly. This will help to keep track of rewards you’ve received separately from an address you would use for other things.
